Have they updated the Let Our Def Rance website with the revised results from all the races he “won” yet? I feel sorry for whoever cops that task because the blokes who came 2nd, 3rd, etc. have also been banned too.
There’s probably some semi-professional who came last all season about to be named the winner for one season.

Actually his titles are stripped in-line with the decision by the anti-doping authority that held jurisdiction, but the race organiser is under no obligation to award those victories to anyone else. In more recent times (2006 with Landis and 2010 with Contador going to Pereiro and Andy Schleck respectively) the ASO has shunted everyone up the order one spot.
In this instance though, they’ve elected to just strip the victories and in a technical sense those 7 years now have no official winner because nobody wants to try to sort out the mess of finding the first clean rider down the order. I can’t remember the exact numbers but of the 21 podium places over those 7 years, apparently there are only two riders who have no doping conviction recorded against them.

Yeah, 99-05 were great years for clean cycling. Names like Ullrich, Basso, Pantani etc. You could literally fucking see races slow down after he retired the first time. And only a fool would believe it’s changed significantly now. But him getting a bullshit mea culpa via Oprah is just galling.

Make no mistake, this whole “confession” is very calculated and deliberate to try and have his lifetime ban in elite triathlon overturned. He still sees an opportunity to make good money in that sport. There’s nothing altruistic or remorseful about the bastard.

I’m sick of see in his fucking face on my television and hearing his name in my ear. To think of all the people he screwed over in his deception… and he is still getting publicity. I believe in second chances but not for this scumbag. He is a fucking barnacle and needs to be treated as such.
